CAMPAIGN OF SUPPORT AGAINST COVID-19 IN LOWER AMAZON

With the rapid proliferation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the northern region of Brazil is a cause for concern due to logistical difficulties, extreme lack of infrastructure, and vulnerability of the population – especially indigenous peoples and riverside communities.

Given this, the Health and Happiness prepared itself and at the start of the year began to direct its work to fighting against the virus. Needs were determined with health agencies and community organizations, resources were relocated and new partners were mobilized.

And with this, the #ComSaudeeAlegriaSemCorona Campaign was created.

The issues starts when the Public System can no longer support the numbers based on the available structure, either due to the lack of equipment, beds and ICUs, or the lack of materials and professionals, who may be contaminated if there is insufficient PPE. This exacerbates case and/or more lives are lost not only due to the virus, but due to the lack of adequate care. This is why efforts to strengthen the care network in the Lower Amazon are needed.
